Life as a Consultant Symposium

Date: 16th March 2018

Time: 9:00-17:00

Location: Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh, 9 Queen Street, Edinburgh, EH2 1JQ

Included in our 2018 event are a variety of expert led lectures and interactive breakout sessions. The lectures focus on resilience, staff well-being, innovation and managing change, and sustainability.

Our breakout sessions include the topics of peer-support and mentoring, lessons learned from errors made in the aviation industry, and how this might transfer to patient safety and risk management. We also raise the thorny (and extremely topical) question – when and how should one speak up at work?

Dr Clare Gerada, previous Chair of RCGP council and GP based in London will deliver a key talk on staff wellbeing focusing on how doctors with mental health and other health problems are treated and transparency for patients.

Finally, we cover the topic of Equality & Diversity at work and the views of RCPE as well as hearing from Dr Peter Wilmshurst who took on the corporate giants as a whistleblower.

This event is suitable for senior trainees and consultants of all levels.

The early bird discount ends on Thursday 15 February 2018.
